I know Road Fury was going to be the next movie, but Mel Gibson already said that it wasn't going to be done. he said that his fans would start calling him Fat Max, and there wasn't even a solid script even in place yet.
Besides After Road Warrior, and the passing of Byron Kennedy, that last chapter (beyond thunderdome) didn't even rank up with the first two (IMO).

If in a new Mad Max there is any ANY CGI, I will be forced to kill whoever made such a boneheaded decision. If some assjockey comes along and replaces Mel Gibson with someone like Hugh Jackman, I'll kill them and then myself. I couldn't live knowing the Road Warrior has been contaminated with such things. everybody on that has made a suggestion for an actor to fill the shoes of Mel Gibson as Mad Max, you don't know what you are talking about. Eric Bana, Hugh Jackman are hollywood's pretty boys. If anyone can play Mad Max it is Jason Statham. There can't be any argument with that. Last I checked Mad Max was an action movie that doesnt need another hero.

Jason Statham is a low budget actor for a low budget film that can do decent physical action. I can understand if Australians want an Australian actor for an Australian film. If anything, I am pretty sure George Miller can find an unknown and do what he did for the original Mad Max and Mel Gibson. That would be the best way to go.
Obviously you will not spend money to see Jason Statham play Max Rockatansky, while others will. To each their own.

Its part of the extras on the dvd. There was an action sequence that they shot twice. One version involved horseback riders and the other motorcycles. They went with the horses mostly in the final edit.
