Just to let you know, the 2008 Viper is the best handling version and is still the best buy.And what the hell give me proof that the Viper is a shitty handler.The Viper ACR only has downforce upgrades and suspension tuning and it beat the Europeans in their home turf: The Nurburgring.The Viper is good in direction my ass!

i agree but the reason the viper isn't populer cuase it's very bad on corners, the vette always comes up with something faster like the z06 and the vette costs 20 grand less than the viper.......trust me, i would take that red viper/srt10 over jessica simpson, but if i can't afford it, and can afford the standard corvette than i would go for the corvette, but all i can afford is a mustang right now, and that's prob. all i can afford for a long time...FORD GT is a different story( my dream car)

the viper and corvette offer outstanding performance for their price and handle very well in corners, they aren't really as refined as say a ferrari or bmw but they work very well
and for about 20,000 dollars above sticker price they have both set record lap times on the ring against european machines costing about 5-8 times as much

Wrong. Both the SRT-10 and the ACR have a higher skidpad rating than the Z06. The only difference between the ACR and the SRT-10 is weight reduction, tweaked aerodynamics, and suspension tuning, and it'll do the Nurburgring in 7:22.... faster than the Z06 by twenty seconds, and faster than the ZR1 by four.

okay well if you add a weight reduction, tweak the aerodynamics and tune the suspension on the ZR1 then i am sure that the Zr1 would eat the viper alive. i am a viper fan but come on think a little bit.

The ZR-1 is lighter than the ACR. It also produces more hp. Isn't the suspension on the ZR-1 adjustable as well?

really? whats stopping me from upgrading the supercharger on the Zr-1 and in that case a new cam and a boared out block would up the horsepower too. its a never ending battle...

Exactly, that is why your mention of modding the ZR-1 to keep up with the viper is silly. You have to compare stock vs. stock or just realize you are just comparing apples to oranges.

...and of course, if you want to get into a modding battle, the viper takes a lot more mods than the ZR-1. The ZR-1 engine is already near it's max reliable output and chevy themselves have warned against doing much to the car. There are vipers running around with nearly 2000hp. You just aren't doing that in a ZR-1. You would be better off starting with the Z06 if you want that kind of power. Well, really you would be better off starting with a viper lol

i didnt bring up modding Firestorm4056 did. also you cant say that there are more mods for the viper than there are for the zr-1 because of the fact that the ZR-1 hasnt even come out into production yet. i mean i understand that the viper is alot easier to mod seen by hennessy but there is also lingenfelter to watchout for.

Who brought it up makes no difference if you support the reasoning behind it. Stock vs stock, the viper is faster around a track than a ZR-1. That is a cold hard fact with no room for argument.
GM said themselves that the motor is not structurally sound at much above stock levels of power. Yeah, you can swap a pulley, change some pistons, but you will have major issues in a short amount of time.
and yes, the ZR-1 is in production and there are cars on the street.
