Well, I doubt you can garantee that if America has to rely on imported veficles for their transportation needs, they'll all be gas savers. Yeah, America, let's follow The Big 3 into the ditch. Do you really think that foreign car makers have our contries interest at heart? I don't think so. They want our money, nothing else. We can't let US manufacturing die, and if it does, so will America. And if you doubt that, go to the library and do some real research.

also, who really thinks its a good idea for they to declare bankrupcy. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD BUY A CAR FROM A BANKRUPT COMPANY?! because theres a good chance they may go under, then you have a car that if something goes wrong, no one will be around to fix it. yeah, smart. lets declare bankruptcy and further hurt our sales. this is a loan not a bailout. the wallstreet bailou that everyone was for, yeah, what did that do? absolutely nothing! Time for a reality check for the UAW. No bailout until they all take (management included) a 30% paycut-at a minimum. Then look at the pensions and cut those! I worked for a major airlines and we were forced to take major paycuts. Spread the pain around during these lean times.

Ford and GM produced a large market of Trucks because they had a dominating market share in commercial fleet(trucks).When housing and loans for construction decreased,that was another catalyst for loss in revenues.Also,Ford and GM's manufacturing plants generally employ baby boomers with higher health care needs and retirement pentions.Toyota/Honda are in the south and demographically employ people ages 25-35.We should loan them the money with oversight from a federal commitee.

I agree with Don,he is so right, Why can't GM, Ford and Chrysler make a good car that last more then 200,000 miles and gets more than 28 miles to the gallon,I have a Toyota tundra and a handa Odessy because I am done with american cars,was there not an issue back in the 70's and 80's when americans were buying cars like datson and toyota because gas prices were high and american cars where gas hogs.well he we are in 2008 and they still have not changed,I say go under this will teach you a lesson

i have a 91 chevy cavalier with 265000 miles on it that gets 32 miles per gallon....chevy still makes these cars...no one was buying them because they wanted suvs....oh...buy the time your toyota gets to be 17 years old, if you live where they salt roads in the winter...it will get much better mileage cuz the body will be rusted away.
