I am 41 years old and i was born in 1966
extremely nice ride - G.M. doesn't make cars like that anymore.cars like that existed when gas was 13 cents a gallon.Does that car do o.k. running on unleaded gas?

You caught us! We shot this video about ten years ago for a local access cable program. The car is still around and shows up at the cruises, unleaded gasoline and all. Thanks for watching, commenting and noticing.

I bought my 58 in Calexico,CA in 1989. My car looks just like his, but it's a convertible. Mine needed a complete restoration too. I didn't restore mine myself though. Hats off to those who can. Wish I could do that. Ironically I grew up about 3 miles north of Route 66 in Rancho Cucamonga. I think these cars are GM's best work.

Absolutely stunning '58! Even though I'm first and foremost a Mopar fan, the '58 Impala is my all time favourite car. My Dad had 3 of them in his lifetime (2 before I was around, and 1 when I was a kid). Unfortunately one couldn't predict what these cars, and others, would be worth in the future. ;) Anyway, thanks for giving us a glimpse of this beauty!

As long as you don't race the car or drive it hard, unleaded is fine. The valve seats will erode if the engine is run hard because the lead in the gasoline acted as a lubricant.

The 1958 Impala came from the factory with the 348..... this guys has the tiny 283.... must have snatched the 348 out and replaced it.... too bad, the 348 was a monster.... badass car though... one of my dream cars.

they came with 283 and even 6 cylinder, depening on the order.
348 was originally a truck engine and later it grew to 409 cuin. Lasted untill 1964

Puchased a 58 convertable in 63 when I was just 19.
Was a black on black with a 283. Not a really fast car, but rode like a limo due to the wt.
Ended up blowing the engine and sold it for 200.00. The body and interior were perfect.
